Big Pops Poppin’

Chocolate pecan pie poppin’. 🙂 Another dessert on a stick, but I love how adorable pops look. This was a last minute present I threw together that I hope the birthday gal will enjoy. I’m crossing my fingers that they make the journey from Texas to California as pops and not crumbs.

I used a combination of recipes and tips from Cocina Marie, Blooming Foodie, South by San Francisco, and Bakerella to make Chocolate Pecan Pie Pops.

Upcycled Beer Can Jewelry

A new year—out with the old, in with the new! Time to use up some of my craft supplies or get rid of them. Seven or so years ago, I was really into jewelry making. When I moved to Texas, I brought all my supplies with me but never got the chance to put them to use. After Princemas, however, I had quite the crafting challenge: what can I do with a skunked case of Lone Star Beer?

Hello 2012!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you enjoyed the holidays and had lots to eat and share. I was in California for a week, but now I’m back and ready for a new year of Semi-DIYing. 🙂  (BTW, the thumbnail is of amazing macarons that I had to bring back from Brodard—they even make taro and durian flavored!).

Somehow the holidays snuck up on me again so I ended up spending the last week in a flurry of making Semi-DIY gifts. Here are some highlights:

Blogger Gift Exchange

I was excited to get in on the Lovely Package Exchange, hosted by Oh Hello Friend. It’s a gift exchange among bloggers—which as of last year, I qualify as a blogger! 🙂 Unknown if it was random or on purpose, but I got matched with a fellow Austinite, Gretchen. We met up at Quack’s last week to exchange presents instead of sending them in the mail.
