Housewarming – Fall Party Food

After a 3-month hiatus, I’m finally back! Hope you didn’t miss me too much. 😛

My next few posts will be about semi-DIY house projects I undertook over the last month, but first, I wanted to share the food from my recent housewarming. This past Saturday, I was happy to have nearly 20 friends stop by my new place—although now I have way too much alcohol in the house! Which is not the worse problem to have. 🙂 Being newly single is rough, but I’m very thankful to have such a great support network.

Star Trek Bachelorette

A couple weekends ago, I flew out to Vegas for a friend’s Star Trek themed bachelorette party. The theme was a surprise for the bride—who thoroughly enjoyed it, even though she’s more a Next Generation Trekkie than The Original Series (TOS) Trekkie. The girls dressed up in blue and black dresses, wore Spock ears, and the TOS insignia. Surprisingly, few people could figure out our Vulcan costumes and some even thought our pointy ears were real—maybe we needed the eyebrows and bangs.

Semi-DIY Business Cards

Last week I had a networking event to attend—Thursday Therapy—a monthly gathering of wedding professionals for a night of mingling along with yummy food and drinks. I’ve been procrastinating with making business cards because I wanted to design a logo. But I definitely needed to share my info that night. I decided to go with simple DIY business cards using cardstock and eraser stamps.

Banh Xeo – Vietnamese Crepes

My mom came to visit me for Memorial Day weekend so I requested her to make one of my favorite dishes, Banh Xeo aka Vietnamese crepes. C-Man thinks they look more like Vietnamese omelets but there’s no egg in them—the yellow is from the turmeric in the batter. It was a nice reminder of home. 🙂
