DOC for Molly and Akram’s Wedding

Last weekend I had the pleasure of DOCing another wedding at the lovely Umlauf Sculpture Garden for two grad school friends, Molly and Akram. There was unusually heavy rainfall the day beforehand, but the sun came out for their special day. There was amazing family style food catered by Pink Avocado, two solid hours of dancing with music by Hill Country DJ, and lots of DIY touches from the couple and their loved ones. Painted Folding Chairs

Painted and reupholstered chairsA while back, I saw these painted folding chairs on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a try. I already had four folding chairs from Costco, I’m pretty sure I got them for $15 each. I bought some green fabric from Joann’s and had leftover blue fabric that previously served as no-sew pillow covers. (In case you were curious, here are the steps for the pillow cases). Lowe’s only had Valspar spray paint which I knew wasn’t the best, but I was too lazy to go elsewhere. Continue reading

Below are the highlights from Sunday. Continue reading

I attempted three different types of glass painting, but it was a bit more challenging than Pinterest made it out to be.

Housewarming Presents: Semi-DIY Planter and Sign

Succulent Planter1My friends recently bought their first home together, giving me a reason to get outta my crafting rut. (I can’t believe it’s almost April and it’s been months since I crafted, yikes!) I had to come up with something cool since they gifted me these awesome laser wood cuttings—why, yes that lamp shade is made of wood! (soon to be available for purchase from studio tomi)

Semi-DIY Piñata

texasOMG it’s already the end of January! Apparently, 2013 started off super busy for me. But hopefully it’s been a good month for you.

Even though I crafted this back in December, I wanted to share an easy semi-diy piñata I made for my work’s white elephant gift exchange. And of course, it’s in the shape of Texas! I tried to include the option of sticking some of our un-favorite people on it, but their photos were surprisingly difficult to track down. 😛 Continue reading
