Animal Themed Baby Shower

baby showerLast month I was back in CA to help host an animal-themed baby shower. It was super cute with green and yellow as the party colors. I was in charge of prepping the honey pot favors, decorating diaper cakes, and baking some panda pastries that I tried to pull off as teddy bears. Lunar New Year Potluck

year of the horse Lunar New Year sneaked up on me again this year. With it being so close after the winter holidays, I went with a casual potluck. We ate, drank, read our horoscopes for the not-so-lucky Year of the Horse, and played a little bau cua ca cop (gambling dice game). As a rooster and Marcus as a horse, we’re not supposed to gamble this year so we definitely lost all our quarters in the game.  Continue reading

LinMar Housewarming

imageWith my recent cohabitation with Marcus, it called for a party. It was a mashed up theme of fall, housewarming, beer tasting, and Christmas.

About 40 of our friends stopped by with plenty of beer to share. We glass etched some beer tasting glasses to use throughout the night as well as for party favors. There was also non-alcoholic apple cider, sparkling water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

Very Hungry Caterpillar 1st Birthday

photo (1)Last month I was back in CA for my niece’s first birthday party. My sister did a great job with the Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for decor and food. My contribution, per usual, was making the banners – one Happy Birthday Banner and one photo banner. It was super easy (although time intensive) with my handy dandy Cricut and some eraser stamps. DOC for Molly and Akram’s Wedding

Last weekend I had the pleasure of DOCing another wedding at the lovely Umlauf Sculpture Garden for two grad school friends, Molly and Akram. There was unusually heavy rainfall the day beforehand, but the sun came out for their special day. There was amazing family style food catered by Pink Avocado, two solid hours of dancing with music by Hill Country DJ, and lots of DIY touches from the couple and their loved ones.
